Innovation, diversity and value are the key themes of the AWIS 2002
Science Unlimited conference.
In the three years since our last conference, the scientific
environment has become more globalised and commercialised. More than ever,
women working in science need to expand into new technologies, secure funding,
develop new business and management skills and learn about related areas
such as intellectual property, often while juggling these challenges with
their roles in the family and the community.
We ask:
- what influence do women scientists have in the debate
of such topics as genetic modification, reproductive technologies, and
environmental management?
- what educational roles do they play in these areas?
- what business opportunities are women scientists
taking advantage of?
- what challenges are present for women in science
from different cultural backgrounds?
- how does the diversity of women in science contribute
to areas of innovation and social conscience?
The conference will provide a wide range of papers and
workshops which will update and upskill those attending and enable discussion
and debate with some top women scientists.
