New award to support STEM study

The Association for Women in the Sciences (AWIS) is pleased to announce the launch of its new financial award to support women studying STEM subjects.

The $9000 award will be granted on an annual basis to support up to three women enrolled in a tertiary STEM qualification, particularly those whose social identity is under-represented in their field of study. The funds for the award were raised through screenings of the movie Hidden Figures, which centred around female mathematicians involved in the NASA space programme.

Applications for the Award should be made through the New Horizons for Women Trust website. The closing date for this year’s awards is 15 April 2018.
